The cinema study “cine.ma” for the first half of 2024 is now available!

The successful project cine.ma, the Austrian media category study for cinema advertising, enters the next round and, in its continuation for the first half of 2024, shows a significant increase of 200 thousand cinema admissions compared to the same period in 2023.

In total, this corresponds to 4.2 million cinema-goers (net, 14+) in the first six months of the year.

The trend of young people (aged 14-25) watching films in cinemas and streaming series on VOD platforms remains unbroken.

In addition, a particular trend among young people is becoming more pronounced: going to the cinema almost exclusively as a couple or in groups of three or more.

It is becoming a shared experience! More than 80% of young cinema-goers feel this way.

In the first six months of the year, more than 40% of 14-39 year olds went to see an animated film in the cinema.

The flagship film is the second part of “Upside Down”, which Pixar released in Austrian cinemas in June and which has already passed the impressive half-million mark.
